Gene Wilder, one of the most beloved actors of all time, comes to the Capitol Theater!
The Capitol Theater’s Classics At The Capitol Series rolls right into September with one of Gene Wilder’s most beloved movies, the timeless classic Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory. It will be shown at the historic theater Sunday, September 9th at 2:00 PM. Tickets will be only $5.00 and can be purchased at the box office or online.
Based off Roald Dahl’s 1964 novel “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is the story of Charlie Buckett, a poor paperboy who takes his grandfather to visit Willy Wonka’s Candy Factory after finding a golden ticket in a worldwide contest. Four other children from around the globe are also winners. This event has the whole world’s attention as it’s the first time the highly reclusive Wonka has ever allowed anyone to visit his factory, yet alone make a public appearance.
Filled with memorable moments--including a ride through a tunnel that no child who watched the movie has ever forgotten--plus songs such as “Pure Imagination” and “The Candy Man,” Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory is a film of pure entertainment for young and old alike that has endured for over 40 years. Local film writer Andy Ross will introduce the film. He says, “This is a movie I have loved all my life and can still vividly recall when my parents handed me a VHS tape of the film for the first time. This is such a wonderful movie; it’s impossible to not love Gene Wilder. I can’t wait to see this on the big screen!”
