The Capitol Theater will have you saying “FRON-KEN-STEEN” this October with one of the most loved comedies of all time.

The Capitol Theater of Greeneville continues their Classics At The Capitol Series AND Family Movie Night Series by bringing the beloved film Young Frankenstein, directed Director Mel Brooks. Young Frankenstein will be shown at the Capitol one night only, Thursday, October 18th at 7:00 PM. Tickets will be only $5.00 and can be purchased at the box office or online.

With an all-star cast that features Gene Wilder, Teri Garr, Madeline Kahn, Cloris Leachman, Marty Feldman, and Peter Boyle as "The Monster" and with a screenplay co-written by Wilder & Brooks, Young Frankenstein was one of the biggest box office hits of 1974 and one of the most quotable comedies ever made. The story takes place years after the events of the famed Universal Monster Franchise and focuses on Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (Wilder), the grandson of Victor Frankenstein, who longs to be taken seriously as a doctor and to leave his family legacy in the grave.

After being informed he has inherited his family’s estate in Transylvania, Frederic takes off to the homeland and is soon greeted by the grandson of his father’s assistant, Igor (Feldman), who has acquired a lab assistant for the doctor, Inga (Garr). Igor takes Inga and the good doctor to the family estate, which has been overlooked by Frau Blucher (Leachman). The film is a loving satire of the Universal Monster Franchise that starred Boris Karloff, and it was Mel Brooks’ second big hit of 1974 coming fresh on the heels of Blazing Saddles.

Young Frankenstein will be introduced by local film writer Andy Ross, “There are movies that are hits; movies that are beloved; movies that win awards. But then there are movies like Young Frankenstein which are something beyond that. Movies like this are special, we hold them dear to our hearts. This is a perfect movie and a brilliant comedy from start to finish. I’d go so far to call it one of the best American films ever made. I can’t wait to see this with a packed house at the Capitol. It will be a special night for sure.”
